Fun Times?

March 24, 2015

I am officially on Spring Break; a whole two weeks thank you very much.  I actually didn't wait around until this morning...I kicked off my vacation with a jig, the rumba, and a few twirls thrown in for good measure. Well, I mean I did mentally.

On Saturday, Eric and I went scouting for a new car...for him.  It was time to turn in the sports car for a more "family" vehicle. You know, one where you don't have to contort your body just to buckle the carseat in. Mission accomplished. Not a quick mission mind you. It was one of those "We need the address of the first home you ever lived in, your childhood pet's name, the location of the time capsule you buried twenty years ago (exact coordinates please) and oh yeah, proof of insurance on the car you haven't even bought yet." It was a long, drawn-out process. However, it's done and we won't have to go through that for many, many years.

On Sunday afternoon after church, Eric and Isaac were out playing while Brooke and I were inside. I vacuumed her room and picked her up out of the playpen. As I did, I noticed a rather unpleasant odor that only means a new diaper is needed. Right about this time, the boys came inside and I planned on changing both kids at once and then taking them to play in Isaac's room. However, Brooke had other ideas. She had quite the mess; all the way up to her shoulders. Which in and of itself is quite the feat.

The only solution was to strip her in the tub and hose her down right there.  It's a good thing she loves baths.  I washed and dried her off and we proceeded to play for a bit. Then came dinner and then the plan was a bath for Isaac and then dual bedtimes.

However, Brooke had other ideas. (Wait, it seems like I already typed this sentence.) I picked her up out of her highchair and yes, again! I had Eric hold her upright while I took off a soiled outfit once again.

While I did so, a totally nude (almost) two-year old dodged behind me in the bathroom and did this...

Yes, that is an entire roll of toilet paper on the floor.

Sigh

Well, we managed another shower for Brooke and one for Isaac, and then bedtime after all.

This morning both kids slept in until about 6:49 a.m.! Believe me, that is a great thing. We had breakfast, played, cleaned up messes, napped, ate played had some timeout cleaned up more messes, colored, and played some more...now both kids are in bed and we're ready for day two!
