Christmas
December 26, 2015
Merry Christmas! We have just wrapped up another successful Christmas with the kids. And by successful I mean they are relatively happy and Mom and Dad still have most of their hair and even their sanity intact! So yes, successful.
Isaac is very much into Paw Patrol right now and he was delighted to receive a few Paw Patrol themed presents from loved ones. He also still loves trash trucks. He is such a funny boy. I love that he is into imagining things now. He will pretend to be a fire captain and run to put out a fake fire with a fake fire hose. He also pretends that he is Super Hero Isaac and runs through the house with his arms outstretched, perhaps like he’s flying! He is so much fun.
It is pretty interesting to see him fall into different phases as he grows: he’s less into Daniel Tiger now and is even moving away from Curious George, but he’s moved on to other interests. One of his favorite things (when the weather cooperates of course) is to play outside in the mulch with his dump trucks, trash trucks, and tractor. He also l-o-v-e-s playing in the sand. That boy could park himself in the sand or at a sandbox or sand table and play for hours at a time. He drives his toy trucks around and around and is just content!
Paw Patrol figurines are inside the sand table. He is so excited to get sand and be able to go outside and play.
B. is really loving Minnie Mouse and dress-up bracelets. She opened a stuffed Minnie doll and it took her a minute or so to warm up to it because it was a little big. The good news is now she totes it around the house and hugs the doll.
She also received a Minnie Mouse hat that has mouse ears on it; she looks so stinking cute in it. She sat on my lap this morning and put on her necklace and her bracelets. It is so sweet so see her walk around the house in her play jewelry and her new brown boots. It is sweet but also a little surreal as well. I dressed her today in her leggings, white top, and boots and it looked like she was all grown up. Couple that with the play jewelry and her penchant for coffee and…well, she doesn’t quite seem like a one-year-old. It seems like she should be picking up her purse (she has a few play purses by the way) and asking to borrow the car keys before heading out the door. Sigh.
She only gets my coffee cup when there is basically nothing left, but she loves it anyway!
I realized just as I began typing that I only have a few pictures from Christmas to include in this blog. I feel that there is a balance that I am not doing very well with. I definitely want to get a few pictures from family events, holidays, and birthdays to remember the day by; but I also don’t want to be taking so many pictures that I am not present during the event. I also don’t want to be married to the “posed” look; I want to get pictures of family just doing whatever they’re doing. Oh well. I need to work on this in the coming year. Here are a few recent unposed pics.
I am interested to see what 2016 brings our way! I am sure it will include lots of fun, noise, and messes. I am excited to see what Isaac and Brooke will do in the next year and what milestones and new interests they will have. I definitely want to make sure that we place Jesus in the center of it all. Without Him, we'll have nothing.
Thank You Lord for this past year and for everything You blessed us with. We seek to do Your will in what is left of this year and in the new year to come. Amen.
