Christmas
January 10, 2015
A new year with two sweet babies. We just had Isaac's second Christmas and Brookie's first Christmas. The entire experience was so wonderful; Isaac enjoyed opening presents, at least he did at first, but after opening a few packages, he just wanted to run around. Isaac's favorite things seemed to be Daniel Tiger figurines and a Thomas the Tank Engine Pillow Pet. Brooke wasn't able to open anything, but two of the most popular things she did get included a cute Little Sis Dog and a pink Disney Princess Rattle; however, both of these toys were immediately claimed by her big brother. He took the dog from her and said, "Mine baby" He hasn't fully grasped the concept of sharing toys and letting Brooke have her own things.
While I was on Christmas break Isaac, Brooke, and I got into quite the routine. Isaac usually got up around 5:30 or 6:00 a.m. He would lay with me in bed or on the couch and watch Daniel Tiger. Daniel Tiger is the show in our house. Don't get me wrong; Daniel Tiger is a cartoon that teaches different lessons for being a preschooler but it's getting so that I really need a small break from good old Daniel. Brooke would get up anywhere from 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. depending on the day. After both kids were changed and dry it would be breakfast time. After breakfast, we would all play in Isaac's room or Brooke's room until nap time. After nap time would be lunch and then more play time. Isaac spent much of his time on the floor laying on his stomach drawing in his little notebook or coloring in a coloring book. He loves to draw with crayons, pencils, pens...it really doesn't matter. He usually says he is drawing the moon and stars or a trash truck.
The big difference in our week was Tuesday, quite a big day at our house because it is trash truck day. Isaac spent our last Tuesday morning together watching trash truck videos on YouTube (for whatever bizarre reason, there are a lot of trash truck videos on YouTube, some quite odd). He told me frequently, "pee-pull dash" which in Isaac-speak means the trash truck is getting "other people's trash" while we are waiting for the truck to show up at our house. He is too funny. Isaac has such the personality and such definite opinions.
Brooke is quite the smiley girl. She is happy pretty much all the time. The only times you will hear her make a fuss is when she's tired or hungry. She loves her food! Such a chunky little baby. She is starting to gurgle and babble and I know that I heard her say "da-da" the other day but she hasn't repeated it since. Brooke just got her six-month pictures taken and they are adorable. She is such a beautiful girl!
On a more unpleasant note, our house has been dealing with sickness for about a week and a half. I started the whole thing the Tuesday before New Year's with Eric following. This week on Wednesday and Thursday it was so cold that we got two consecutive school days off from school. Yesterday, Friday, there was no delay and school was in; and so it made perfect sense for Isaac to wake up coughing and with a fever. Brooke had a mild fever as well yesterday. Both kids are better today, but Isaac is still puny and very whiny. We are praying that the members of our house are now on the mend.
