Brooke's Obsession

Brookie is the funniest girl! She has a love/hate relationship with inflatables people put up in their yards. During the middle of October, people decorated their yards with Halloween lights, fake tombstones, "skeletones" and those large inflatables that are tied down to front yards. Some of these inflatables, or "blow up thangs", as Brooke calls them were cutesy (Snoopy, a cat sitting on a pumpkin) and some were scarier (Frankensteins, witches, monsters).  Brooke has a fascination with all of these inflatables we saw...I would certainly categorize it as a love/hate relationship. She desperately wanted us to drive by them, and then stop in the middle of the street so she could see them in detail; however, when we stopped, she said, "I don't like that. That's scary." As we drove away, she cried, "Stop! I want to see." It was an interesting conflict she had going on.

Well, after she saw the October inflatables, people began to put up Christmas ones instead. Brooke then decided that we just had to have a few as well. She talked about it and coerced Eric into buying some decor for our yard. He settled on a brown dachshund and a snowman. Brooke loved both. She was pretty in love with the fact she now owned two of these "blow up thangs." All was well until about a week before Christmas when someone decided to steal ours in the middle of the night. We were in the car and pulling out of the driveway on our way to the store  when Brooke pointed at the yard and asked, "Where are our blow up thangs?" I looked over and noticed they were gone.

Really??!!?

Brooke was miffed, as you can see here, but Isaac took it harder. He really does look for things to be fair, right, and even ideal. He cried a bit when he saw they were gone. When we returned from the store there was another inflatable on the porch, courtesy of my in-laws. Both kids were very excited to be able to see their inflatables in the yard once more.

I really hope that the person who took them...well, let's just not finish that sentence.
